Stainless Steel Fibre Technical Information
Stainless steel fibre textile products are made of special AISI 316L stainless steel fibre yarns, combining the unique technical characteristics of steel but with an ultra soft and flexible textile feel. Therefore, stainless steel fibre textile products maintain excellent mechanical strength at the highest temperatures and with exceptional surface abrasion resistance making them particularly suitable for various industrial applications, particularly in the glass processing industry.
Stainless steel fibre has the following key characteristics for thermal applications
- High temperature stability – 650°C in optimum conditions.
- Excellent thermal shock resistance.
- Good dimensional stability.
- High mechanical strength.
- Excellent anti glass marking protective medium.
- Incombustible.
- Good flexibility.
- High resistant to abrasion.
Often para aramid; PBO or OPAN fibres are blended with stainless steel to provide a more economical product.
