Meta Aramid Fibre Technical Information
Meta aramid fibre is best known as Nomex® if produced by Dupont™ or Conex® if produced by Teijin Aramid B.V. Meta aramid fibres are heat and flame resistant and are used in protective fabrics, garments, insulation, and other high-performance applications.
Meta aramid fibre has the following key characteristics for thermal applications:
- Inherently flame resistant, high temperature resistant fibre that will not melt, drip, or support combustion. Does not burn but self-extinguishes on removal of flame.
- Is capable of maintaining its integrity to 370°C in optimum conditions.
- Soft feel making it an excellent choice for fire retardant apparel applications.
- Normally cream in colour, though other colours available in sewing threads.
