Plied Glass Processing Yarn (Continuous Filament)
Plied Glass Processing Yarn (Continuous Filament)
Plied E Glass Yarn
Plied glass yarn is manufactured by twisting two or more single continuous filament E glass yarns together to create a stronger, more cohesive and more processable textile yarn. The plying process improves yarn integrity, abrasion resistance and handling characteristics whilst maintaining the excellent thermal, mechanical and electrical insulation properties associated with continuous filament glass fibres.
By combining multiple single yarns into a single construction, plied glass yarn offers improved weaving, braiding and knitting performance compared with single-end yarns. The additional cohesion helps reduce filament separation during processing and contributes to more consistent finished textile products.
Plied E glass yarns are used in the production of thermal tapes, webbings, ropes, braided sleeving, electrical insulation products and industrial textiles.
Typical examples include:
- EC9 68/2
- EC9 68/3
- EC9 136/2
- EC9 136/3
Where the final number indicates the number of single yarns twisted together.
The resulting yarn provides an excellent balance of strength, flexibility, processability and thermal performance for a wide range of high temperature applications.
