Structural Reinforcement Mesh
Product Description
Gavazzi provides solutions for structural reinforcement and consolidation, with a range of meshes made with AR (Alkali-Resistant) glass fibre.
Use
AR glass, unlike other types of glass, is not subjected to the aggression of alkaline agents (chemicals within the cementitious matrix and lime-based mixtures), thanks to its high percentage of Zirconium oxide (higher than 16% in compliance with UNI EN 15422), which gives the mesh high durability and resistance against the alkaline environment.
Basalt boasts a high degree of compactness and strength, making it immune to alteration and able to withstand mechanical stress and impact. This volcanic stone is used for both paving and cladding, in both outdoor and indoor environments, even in cold and humid climates with large temperature fluctuations.
Gavazzi's AR fibreglass and basalt meshes are used as reinforcement within various structural reinforcement and restoration systems.

Advantages
- High composite efficiency: special impregnation treatments to increase the mechanical performance of composite systems
- Maintenance of performance: mechanical performance remains virtually unchanged over time
- Reduction in thickness and weight: systems reinforced with AR glass fiber meshes allow the creation of light and low thickness composites
Types
FRCM Reinforcement Systems
In compliance with the parameters dictated by the Qualification Guidelines issued by the Superior Council of Public Works, FRCM composites are made of an inorganic matrix based on cement mortar or lime, together with a textile reinforcement - usually an AR glass fibre mesh impregnated with polymeric resins.
AR fibreglass meshes suitable for application on FRCM systems are meant for the restoration of already-existing brick, stone or masonry buildings, damaged as a result of exceptional events such as earthquakes or the degradation of the metal reinforcement, and showing cracks in the mortars of reinforced concrete.
CRM Reinforcement Systems
The CRM reinforcement systems, regulated by the Qualification Guidelines issued by the Superior Council of Public Works, are an innovative technique applied to existing walls to replace the traditional reinforced plaster. They can be applied either on one side or on both sides of the structure, embedded in a structural cement mortar.
AR Gavazzi® glass fibre meshes stand out for the type of thermosetting impregnation which is used in compliance with all legal requirements. More specifically, the thermosetting resin penetrates inside the fiber, completely impregnating it and guaranteeing the mortar-mesh system performance efficiency to be of approximately 100%. This means that maximum adherence between the reinforcement and the support is ensured, making it possible for the system to work as a single body when subjected to seismic stress.
Gavazzi products for CRM systems, in addition to being compliant with Italian legislation, have obtained the ETA (European Technical Evaluation) and the consequent CE marking, valid internationally.
The Gavazzi CRM system consists of:
Prefabricated Elements
AR Gavazzi fibreglass meshes have excellent adhesion properties with HPC self-leveling mortars, making it possible to reduce thickness and weight of prefabricated facade panels, meant for both decorative and structural purposes.
Strengthening of Ceilings - Anti Delamination
When the intrados of ceilings breaks off from the masonry elements, the so-called delamination phenomenon may happen, as a result of seismic events or as a consequence of external factors degradation, thus jeopardising the safe evacuation of the room. AR fibreglass meshes are used to interventions.
