Screed Reinforcement Mesh
Product Description
Gavazzi provides solutions for the reinforcement and anti-cracking of screeds thanks to the use of fibreglass mesh as reinforcement, including 1217-A, which has the CE marking.
Use
Gavazzi fibreglass meshes have been designed for the reinforcement of low thickness screeds and are an alternative to metal reinforcements.
The screed is a layer of mortar of varying thickness applied to a concrete surface or to insulation panels.
Its composition based on water and cement during the drying period makes it prone to cracking due to shrinkage and its poor tensile strength. In fact, chemical / physical reactions develop (especially in the first 28 days) that generate internal tensions that create the aforementioned cracks.
This is problematic for subsequent surface applications, such as for example the laying of tiles or resins; therefore to obtain a quality screed it is essential to use a reinforcement armature.

Advantages
- They are extremely easy to transport: supplied in rolls, they are extremely light and easy to transport to the construction site, considerably releaving the worker from part of their labouring operations
- They are extremely easy to lay: they can be easily laid on the slab and shaped with a cutter or scissors
- They can be easily stockpiled and their storage can be then optimised
- They do not corrode: they are not affected by corrosion thanks to their own nature, and they do not produce magnetic fields
Laying
The reinforcement is applied to the inside of the still fresh screed, taking care to overlap it by at least 10 cm.
