Para Aramid Cloth
- Virgin continuous filament (CF) para aramid yarn,
- High tenacity spun (HTS) para aramid yarn, or
- Spun regenerated discontinuous staple fibre (DF) yarn
Para Aramid cloths are:
- Non-flammable, do not drip or melt but instead only carbonise (char) once the temperature limit is exceeded.
- Inherently fire resistant.
- Exhibit high tensile strength and abrasion resistance even at high temperatures.
- Rated up to 300°C in optimum conditions.
- A polymer scrape (polyurethane or neoprene) can be added to some cloths to act as a weavelock to aid fabrication.
- A soft and skin friendly cotton flannel can be laminated on one side for garment manufacture.
Typical brands of virgin para aramid include Kevlar®, Twaron® and Heracron®.
